THE WEIGHT OF CHOICES

When a woman gets used to making a living by lying on her back,
the world of labor, dignity, and honest sweat begins to look distant…
like a path overgrown with thorns,
tedious, cumbersome, and painfully slow.

The options that carry the cross of effort and the burden of self-respect
seem less like opportunity and more like punishment.
The hours, the struggle, the discipline they weigh heavy,
and temptation whispers, soft but relentless:
“Why toil when comfort can come easy?”

It is not merely a choice of money or survival.
It is the silent shaping of values, the molding of identity.
Each easy path carries a quiet cost
that the world rarely measures.
And each hard path carries the potential
to carve a woman into her truest form.

In the end, society sees the glitter.
Fate sees the labor.
And the soul knows the difference between what is easy and what is earned.

A Reflection from the SIMU Collection.

Understanding this poem really hits home for me. It’s like we’re all trying to climb that ladder, but who takes the first rung? Society whispers softly, but it’s the hard choices that truly shape us.

The poem really hits hard on the struggle of choosing. Sometimes it feels like the easy path is inviting, but stepping into the harder ones can truly shape who we are. Understanding where society wants us to go versus where our own hearts lead feels like such a powerful lesson.
