THE WEIGHT OF CHOICES

When a woman gets used to making a living by lying on her back,
the world of labor, dignity, and honest sweat begins to look distant…
like a path overgrown with thorns,
tedious, cumbersome, and painfully slow.

The options that carry the cross of effort and the burden of self-respect
seem less like opportunity and more like punishment.
The hours, the struggle, the discipline they weigh heavy,
and temptation whispers, soft but relentless:
“Why toil when comfort can come easy?”

It is not merely a choice of money or survival.
It is the silent shaping of values, the molding of identity.
Each easy path carries a quiet cost
that the world rarely measures.
And each hard path carries the potential
to carve a woman into her truest form.

In the end, society sees the glitter.
Fate sees the labor.
And the soul knows the difference between what is easy and what is earned.

A Reflection from the SIMU Collection.

Understanding this poem really hits home for me. It’s like we’re all trying to climb that ladder, but who takes the first rung? Society whispers softly, but it’s the hard choices that truly shape us.

The poem really hits hard on the struggle of choosing. Sometimes it feels like the easy path is inviting, but stepping into the harder ones can truly shape who we are. Understanding where society wants us to go versus where our own hearts lead feels like such a powerful lesson.

Exactly! The weight of choices is something every woman has to face. It's like walking a tightrope where each step requires strength and resilience. I admire the quiet determination it takes to forge a path through life's challenges.

The poem really hits home. Society often judges the choices we make based on comfort rather than the hard work involved, but it's those choices that shape us deeply.

Life sure feels like it's full of choices. The pressure to conform is real, but taking the hard path isn't just about proving anything—it's about defining who you are. Sometimes, it's worth every ounce of struggle.

The author hits the nail on the head about the weight of choices. It's tough to see society sometimes, but taking risks can lead to growth. Definitely respect that struggle.

The poem really hits hard. Struggles with choices are so real in everyone's journey. Sometimes taking the easy way out can feel comforting, but it doesn't feel sustainable. It reminds me how important it is to prioritize and not settle for less than what we're capable of. Hard work might be tough, but it’s worth it in the end.
