The Waters of Africa

Africa, my pride, my home
A place where beautiful sounds hums
Land of contrast where deserts meets the blue
Gentle ripples reflected in different hue
Waters of Africa, fertile land around
Where bountiful crops abound
Green flourishes by their side
Fields of plenty, a harvest glide
Waters of Africa, Embodiment of both past and present
Holding unto my memories like it's own
Barefoot adventures along its shore
Giving laughter, joy and more
Waters of Africa, turbulent stillness
Enchanting and compelling with it's charms
Tales of gods and goddesses living beyond
Sealing them with a mighty bond
Waters of Africa, no legs but walks and runs
No mouths but screams so deafening
No ears yet glistened with ancient secrets
No hands but holds thousands in it's liquid
The Nile, serpent of ancient civilization
Old, lives for millions of years but never dies
Victoria Falls, a majestic Cascade
Where's Zambezi's sparkles are displayed
Waters of Africa, Diamond gleam along its shores
Treasure hidden, waiting for us to explore
In the heart of South Africa, it resides
Orange River, in its waters we confide
Waters of Africa, close but never meets
Closer to each other than the pages of a book
Yet out if reach like the stars from the earth
Your mystery never ceases to amaze me
Waters of Africa, lost in emotions
Mighty tides untamed and free
Fields submerged like secrets in the deep
Where once was soil, now undertow
Nature's fury beyond repair
Revealing scars that time won't forsake
Floods a verse in nature's song
A beauty that has stolen souls
A weapon but also heals
It's depths, dark and terrifying
Dragging men to their ends
Yet leaves you begging for more
Waters of Africa, a gift or a curse
Waters of Africa, from heaven or hell
Stories of deaths it holds
Tales so terrifying and untold
Yet gives birth to life
Bringing hope to those that strife
