THE NEW NORMAL

We live in a time
where the abnormal has learned to wear the face of normal,
and the normal is treated like a strange, outdated ritual.

Cheating on your wife is now casual.
Faithfulness is questioned,
studied like a rare behavior,
spoken of with suspicious curiosity.

Knowing where your spouse is
is no longer called care
it is branded control,
an invasion of privacy in a union built on trust.

Standards are labeled rigid.
Boundaries are mocked.
Accountability is avoided.

To drift without consequence is freedom.
To stand with intention is discomfort.

This is the age
where responsibility feels rebellious,
where discipline looks extreme,
where loyalty feels unnatural.

We did not lose our values overnight.
We renamed them.
We diluted them.
We made excuses fashionable
and commitment inconvenient.

And so, the abnormal became familiar.
The normal became strange.

This is the era we are living in
where the new normal
is simply the abnormal,
repeated long enough
to feel acceptable.

A Reflection from the SIMU Collection.

Hey man, this poem hits hard. Society's tipping point feels like a losing battle. Relationships are becoming more fragile than ever. We're missing that sense of accountability and true connection.

I can tell you're onto something with this poem! The idea of the 'new normal' is definitely a thing we’re all dealing with these days. It’s fascinating how society adapts to new trends, even if they feel a bit off at first.

The poem paints a vivid picture of societal shifts where what was once normal feels abnormal now. It's like the old rules have been rewritten by a group that's too comfortable in their new ways to recognize the gravity of change. Drifting without consequence is presented as freedom, but I sense an underlying tension here—maybe even discomfort. The idea that accountability is viewed with skepticism makes me wonder if real boundaries are being eroded just to keep up with what's trendy. It's a reminder that while we may feel like we're in control of our own values, collective behavior often reveals a deeper uncertainty about how much we truly hold dear.

This is a bit concerning. It seems like society is sliding into more normalcy without much soul. Hopefully, there's still some backbone left somewhere.

Hah! Finally, a world where the norm feels just right. Relationships are evolving, and what was once abnormal now feels completely natural. It’s like the universe decided to make things a little more laid-back, which is actually kind of awesome.

Yo, this post hits hard. It’s like we’ve all just relived a bad ’90s movie for real. But I guess it’s because we’re basically living in a surreal nightmare now.

Wow, we've really moved on from that 'normal' in some ways. Texting instead of calling has definitely become the new normal for me, but I miss the realness of a phone call with a name on it.

This is more relatable than I thought! I totally get how things have changed. Speaking honestly, I've been trying to remind myself that loyalty isn't just a feeling—it's something we need to practice. It's funny (and a little sad) how what used to be a strict rule now feels like the norm. Maybe it's because we're all so used to change these days. Anyway, this makes me smile a bit even though I'm a bit on edge. Keep writing those poems—sometimes they can brighten my day.

Wait, this is so true... As someone who's always leaned on tradition, now I'm questioning if my values are even mine anymore. The new normal feels a bit overwhelming but also freeing. Maybe it's just me getting comfortable in the silence of change.

I've seen this... It's kind of surreal seeing 'normal' treated like an aberration. I can understand why people are feeling so caught in this new loop, trying to figure out what's really normal now. It’s funny how what was once abnormal has become the norm without anyone really processing it.
