CONTINUATION OF EPISODE 2.....WHISPERS IN THE NIGHT.
Lucas sat up, his heart pounding in his chest. The whispers grew louder, more insistent, until he could no longer ignore them. He got out of bed and opened the door, stepping into the dark hallway. The inn was silent, the only sound the distant creaking of the old building.
Following the whispers, Lucas made his way downstairs and out into the night. The town was shrouded in darkness, the moon hidden once again by thick clouds. The whispers led him through the empty streets, past the church and the schoolhouse, and into the forest.
He moved as if in a trance, unable to resist the pull of the voices. They guided him along the narrow path, deeper and deeper into the woods, until he found himself standing in the clearing once more. The ancient stone circle loomed before him, bathed in an eerie, otherworldly light.
The whispers grew to a crescendo, a cacophony of voices that seemed to come from all around him. Lucas felt a wave of dizziness wash over him, and he fell to his knees, clutching his head in agony. The voices spoke of pain, of suffering, of a terrible vengeance that had been unleashed upon the town.
As the whispers reached their peak, Lucas saw a figure emerge from the shadows. It was a woman, her face twisted in a mask of sorrow and rage. Her eyes burned with an unholy fire, and she raised her arms as if to curse him.
"Why have you come here?" she demanded, her voice echoing through the clearing. "Why do you seek to uncover the truth?"
"I... I just want to understand," Lucas stammered, his voice trembling. "I want to know what happened."
The woman's eyes narrowed, and she took a step closer. "The truth is a dangerous thing, Lucas Thorn. It can consume you, destroy you. But if you truly wish to know, then you must be prepared to face the consequences."
With that, the woman vanished, and the whispers fell silent. Lucas collapsed to the ground, his body trembling with fear and exhaustion. He lay there for what felt like hours, the weight of the town's dark history pressing down on him.
When he finally found the strength to rise, the first light of dawn was breaking through the trees. Lucas made his way back to the inn, his mind heavy with the knowledge he had gained. He knew that he couldn't leave Moonlit Ridge—not yet. There were still too many unanswered questions, too many mysteries to unravel.
As he climbed into bed and closed his eyes, the whispers returned, faint and distant but unmistakable. They would not let him rest, not until he had uncovered the full truth of Moonlit Ridge and the curse that plagued it.
And so, with a renewed sense of determination, Lucas resolved to delve even deeper into the dark secrets of Moonlit Ridge. He knew that he was playing a dangerous game, but the pull of the mystery was too strong to resist.
