The Iron Tomb
By Ineke BSC
Your heart is heavy like an iron tomb,
Where grudges sharpen and hatreds bloom.
Bitterness nurses its venomous seed,
Poisoning soil where young dreams brewed.
Heavy heart, dark as night,
Waging war against the light.
You boil like oceans in restless war,
Rising to batter the innocent shore.
You hunt the dove with merciless eyes,
Spinning the snare where its freedom dies.
Heavy heart, dark as night,
Waging war against the light.
What fleeting glory, what hollow gain,
Is built on another man’s sorrow, his pain?
A crown of ashes, a throne of lies,
Awaits the heart where compassion dies—
Where even the dreams once brewed with care
Lie broken, scattered, lost to despair.
Heavy heart, dark as night,
Waging war against the light.
