The Erosion Of Wisdom By Jared Chimezie

Our memories now as fleeting as the breeze,
Captured in the grasp of an arrogant tree.
Eyes wide open yet blind to the truth,
Ears that hear not, lost in the din of our youth.
Lands rejoice at the wrong's mistaken glee,
Scorn the right, dismissing the true key.
Hands toil tirelessly for a meager wage,
Mouths boast of gains from a hollow stage.
Our ancient forebears, wise in life's ways,
Unfettered by materialistic craze.
They danced to the rhythm of the sacred few,
Thrived in peace under heaven's gentle dew.
Equity and trust, their daily brew,
Truthfulness nurtured their family, too.
Oh, the sages who foresaw their destiny clear,
Holding the power of their culture dear.
Yet they paid homage to their ancestral dust,
Awaiting the return of both just and unjust.
Sweetness consumed turns bitter at the last,
Greedy stomachs groan, burdened from the past.
Houses filled with vanity, cars that weep,
Clothes that cloak vanity, ground that does keep.
But amidst this facade, a truth revealed,
Corrupt seeds in defecation concealed.
