THE BLIND ENCOUNTER

I met a blind man yesterday, he showed me visual things
Gave me an insight into the usual that was quite unusual
He talked about the country like he had a crystal ball
Clairvoyant he seems, mentioned how religion is a brick wall
That Separate humanity from the essence of existence
I was not meant to walk him the whole distance
He had a grip on me and I was spellbound
He told him what brought him to this little town
And how his predicament meant nothing but a gift
Mesmerized by his speech, it gave me a lift

He talked about God and faith
He talked about the Devil and fate
He talked about family and love
He talked about rodent and dove
He talked about government and citizens
He talked with constructive criticism
I kept walking him in silence
As he spoke there was something present,
His speech and pitch had a distinctive note to it.

I have never met this blind man in my entire life
His words cut through my heart like a kitchen knife
It didn't bother him that he was blind
In fact, it made him one of a kind
He said a lot that gave me chills and left me wondering
All he said made me brood and I kept pondering
All through the course of our conversation
I had nothing to say or mention
As we reach his destination
He said "Life isn't what it seems and what it seems isn't what life is"
