Gov. Buni has taken major steps to curb the spread of the kidney health crisis and facilitate its treatment for the good people of Yobe State
My Response to Dan-Bello's Critics who used a Satire Approach to criticize Governor Buni and other baseless allegations that show Dan-Bello's lack of investigative journalism skills.
The Executive Governor of Yobe State, Hon. Dr. Mai Mala Buni, FCIA, CON, COMN, has taken effective steps and continues to take bold steps to identify the causes of the kidney disease in Yobe and to take measures that can prevent its spread, completely contrary to the fake news from Dan-Bello's website.
It is shameful and ridiculous that a person who claims expertise in research publishes a story without any basis. A hobby and evidence are not a source of gossip to achieve certain political goals and to seek fame and excitement, which is why journalism requires full and truthful evidence to improve the well-being of the community.
Is Dan-Bello aware of these measures taken by the Yobe State Governor regarding the kidney health crisis despite the fact that it is such a big deal?
1. On October 1, 2023, Governor Buni led a strong committee, including the Secretary to the Yobe State Government and the State Executive Council, to the United Kingdom, where they spent several days to collaborate and develop a research plan to identify the causes of the kidney health crisis that has plagued some parts of Yobe State.
The joint meeting also included experts from different parts of the world and from different health institutions, such as the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, the Crick Institute, Surex University, and the University of York, under the leadership of Dr. Mahmoud Bukar Maina, the Governor’s Advisor on Science, Research, and Innovation, where a group from various fields, including doctors, researchers, environmental scientists, laboratory scientists, and policy makers, met.
2. Following the collaboration with international institutions, over 2,000 samples were collected from over 2,000 individuals from blood, water, soil, insect residues, crops, and a comprehensive environmental analysis.
3. These samples have also been used for over a year in intensive research and academic studies by health experts from around the world as the research institutions work tirelessly to analyze the data and identify patterns.
4. Also last month, the research team led by Dr. Mahmoud Bukar Maina presented the preliminary findings to the Executive Committee and was broadcast by NTA.
The data identified the areas affected by the disease, the age range of the affected people, and the early warning signs for the population at risk of contracting the disease. A set of recommendations and interventions based on the findings was submitted to the government through the team leader, Dr. Mahmoud Bukar Maina.
5. Information has now confirmed that vital research materials are being transported to continue the work of preventing the spread of this disease and treating it by providing permanent solutions.
It is shameful to see how Dan-Bello, who holds a PhD in Journalism, has thrown his weight behind this issue without further investigation into the government’s actions and has accused the government of failing without any solid evidence.
Finally, I am using these reasons to call on the public to abandon the drama that Dan-Bello has put on and face the truth and the realities.
