The Merger between unity and providus bank is in its final stage which requires the court sanction
This merger is in line with the CBN recapitalisation with deadline March 2026. But both banks have been in this agreement since August 2024.
Both banks will operate with the name Providus-Unity bank (PUB), with providus as the surviving entity.
This merger will place the bank as the ninth largest bank in Nigeria by asset size, with over 230 branches nationwide. This merger will help unity bank meet with the N200 billion CBN capital requirement and also leveraging providus bank.
So do not be surprised when you start to see (PUB) instead of unity bank or providus bank by March 2026
