Development prospects in Potiskum LGA received a major boost as the Executive Chairman, Hon. Salisu Muktari, led a delegation from the North East Development Commission (NEDC) on an inspection tour of strategic sites earmarked for the construction of new roads and bridges.

The inspection, conducted over the weekend, is aimed at addressing long-standing infrastructural challenges, improving transportation, and easing the burden of flooding in critical parts of the town.

Among the priority projects visited were the Tandari road that will link Tandari to Lailai; the road and bridge connecting Kara, Jigawa, and Mazaga; the Arikime-Boriya road linking directly to the Gashua and Nangere highway; and access routes across Bare-Bari, Bauya Lailai Ward, and Bolewa A Ward.

Hon. Salisu Muktari, while welcoming the NEDC delegation, commended the commission for responding to the council’s request.

He also explained that the projects would not only ease the daily movement of people and goods but also expand business opportunities and solidify Potiskum’s role as an economic hub of Yobe State.

He further emphasized that the construction would make travel more convenient for rural communities, noting that residents in Tandari, for example, would be able to reach Kukuri and Duddaye without first having to pass through the town center before continuing their journeys to neighboring villages and other states.

The NEDC officials, after touring the proposed sites, pledged to fast-track technical assessments and begin construction as quickly as possible.

Residents and community leaders who accompanied the tour expressed excitement, describing the intervention as a long-awaited solution that would transform movement, trade, and social interactions across the area.

The move underscores the strong partnership between Potiskum Local Government and the NEDC, in line with Gov. Mai Mala Buni’s vision of expanding infrastructure and improving livelihoods across Yobe State.

“Linking Communities, Driving Growth.”

Special Assistant on Information and Communication to the Executive Chairman, Potiskum Local Government Area.

Wow, that sounds fantastic! Infrastructure development is always a game-changer for any community. It’s great to hear that Potiskum LGA is getting support from NEDC to tackle these long-standing issues and improve transportation. Can’t wait to see how this affects flood relief too! The delegation planning the tour must be super excited, especially with all those strategic sites they’re visiting. This could really make a big difference for residents in Tandari and beyond. Really hoping for fast-tracking these projects and seeing the positive impact soon.
