Our Place in the Stars

Rockets strike the skies with silvery grace,
We do not go gentle into the blackness of space.
Gravity screamed each time it bled,
The sound barrier long buried and dead.
We probe the milky way with eager thrusts,
Comets and Asteroids stand in applause.
Meteors sway to our sonic boom,
We're searching for a place,
We fear our doom.
Our beating hearts no longer at ease,
We've glimpsed the future,
and it's brightness decrease.
We've landed on the moon, next stop Mars.
We're searching for our place,
among the myriads of stars.
