The Narcissist's Lament
Behind the mask, a fragile heart does reside,
A soul tormented, by a wounded pride.
A hunger for praise, a thirst for control,
A mind forever lost, a spirit frail and whole.
They crave attention, a constant supply,
A need to be seen, a reason to fly.
Yet, fear and insecurity, deep within they reside,
A battle unending, a tempestuous tide.
They envy and rage, a tempestuous sea,
A longing for love, yet unable to be free.
A victim they play, a martyr they claim,
A hollow existence, a perpetual game.
They yearn for connection, a genuine bond,
But fear and mistrust, forever beyond.
A prisoner of ego, a slave to desire,
A soul forever burning, a heart consumed by fire.
