My Journey to the Past

Through the holes of our tattered roof shone this rude sun
With its incising claws grasped my face on the left side
Accompanied by thunderous tiny voice of a dying beast in the evil forest
Through my ears the voice danced once more with deeper pitch
One eye closed, the other opened halfway like a hunter aiming a shot at a game
Then cool breeze dashed in like a cascade of bees
Giving my hairless head some gentle greets
And my eyes opened as the gate of heaven
Tàlè, my naughty best friend, stood by
At the edge of the mat I was lying down
His teeth were a complement of the shining sun
All fell on my face in cascades
With his voice heard the third time, dancing through my cochlear
Kàmá, Kàmá, are your eyes clear?
I stood up staggering like a shameless drunkard
My legs stiffened, one could move after another at interval of some seconds
Old man, be easy, can I get you a stick?
Laughter fumed its way out of my mouth
And I gave him a gentle pat on his head
The laughter so did he return
We both dazzled to the mango tree down our hut
Front of which a river flows so cool and ornamented
Birds rented the air with their melodies
Accompanied by the 'krom, krom, krom' sound of the flowing river
Water runs and drags sand
Birds sing and party in the cool morning
Breeze blew from the North to the South
And from the West to the East
Inspiration: An old Aftican Adage says "Twenty children cannot play for twenty years". I had a reminiscence of my childhood plays with my intimate friend who is no more in Africa. The way we used to play during holidays, from morning till short dusk.
