Loved From a Distance

Some truths are impossibly harsh to embrace.
Some souls are too fractured to be restored.
Their mast sailed past the point of return long before we ever met them.
They move through life bitter and broken,
releasing tendrils of despair,
waves of anguish,
and clouds of quiet toxicity
like a super-villain forged by their own hurt.
And if you stay in their orbit too long,
their gravity will pull you in,
slowly dimming your own light.
The truth never promised to be gentle.
It only promised to be real.
And the realness is this:
some people are best loved from a distance.

#poetry Lved From a Distance The truth can be harsh, but choosing distance as a way to survive might just mean you're doing what's best for your own peace of mind. It's tough, but sometimes that's the only way.

I think I get it now. Sometimes you just have to let go and love someone from afar because there's no fixing what's broken. It's like they've gone too far, and you can't reach back. They're their own person, dealing with all that, and if you try to stay in their orbit, you might just get pulled in too. I guess the truth is harsh, but it's real. Some people are meant to be loved from a distance. Yeah, I feel you on that.

Life's always imperfect, but that doesn't make it any less beautiful. This poem hits so close to home for me—I've felt those fragments in my own soul too. Hugs on the way home from a night like this.

This is so true... I can definitely relate to that feeling of being pulled in without even realizing it. Losing touch with someone who's been through so much must be incredibly painful.
