Articles of Love (Spoken word pieces)— Article I
💊💊💊
Ladies and gentlemen,
permit me to read from the constitution of the heart.
Article One.
Love is not a like.
We live in a generation that can double tap faster than it can double check.
You post pain at 2am,
and by 2:01 it has fifty likes,
but not one knock on your door.
We have mastered reaction,
but forgotten response.
We have attention,
but no intention.
You say you love me,
but your love only lives online.
You like my picture,
but you do not like my pressure.
You celebrate my filtered face,
but cannot face my unfiltered fears.
Love is not a like.
It is not a heart emoji.
It is not fire under a selfie.
It is not typing stay strong,
and then scrolling strong past my struggle.
We have turned affection into algorithm.
If it trends, we attend.
If it fades, we evacuate.
We follow people we would never follow through for.
We view stories,
but do not view the story.
We like lives,
but do not give life.
We post promises,
but never purpose to keep them.
Some of you are in relationships where the love is loud online,
but silent offline.
In public, bae.
In private, barely.
To be continued… 🔥
