In an era where many chase power through lobbying and desperation, Hon. (Dr.) Mai Mala Buni, CON, stands as a rare example of leadership earned by merit, patience, and loyalty.
From his early days as a councillor in Buni Ward, Gujba Local Government, to the exalted seat of Governor, his rise is a story built not on asking—but on being chosen, Gov. Buni never begged for appointments, nor did he push himself into offices.
Instead, he served with humility, proved his competence, and allowed patience to speak for him. At every stage, leaders and the people entrusted him with greater responsibility because of his experience, loyalty, and capacity to deliver.
This steady climb took him from grassroots leadership to the national stage as National Secretary of the APC, where he helped strengthen Nigeria’s largest ruling party the All Progressive Congress (APC).
In 2019, destiny and merit united as the people of Yobe gave him their mandate as Governor—a role in which he has transformed lives through electrification, education, healthcare, agriculture, and infrastructure.
Buni’s journey is more than personal success—it is a lesson for today’s politicians: you don’t need to beg for power if you are competent; you don’t need to lobby if you are loyal and patient. Leadership will always find those who serve with sincerity.
His story proves that in politics, as in life, patience is strength, loyalty is reward, and service is the surest path to greatness.
