Isaiah 43:18-19 - Study Notes
"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland."
KEY WORDS:
FORGET (Hebrew: zakar, negated) - not amnesia. It means stop letting your past define your present.
NEW THING (Hebrew: chadash) - something fresh, unprecedented. Not a repeat. Not a remix. Brand new.
SPRINGS UP (Hebrew: tsamach) - to sprout, like a plant breaking soil. It was growing underground before you could see it.
WILDERNESS (Hebrew: midbar) - uninhabited, desolate. God makes roads where there are no roads.
Application: The new thing is already sprouting. I cannot see it yet because I am staring at what I lost instead of looking at what is growing. Stop looking back. The road forward is being built right now.
