A renowned academic and political observer, Professor Almuhajir, has praised the Chairman of Potiskum Local Government, Hon. Salisu Muktari, for his ability to transform political connections into tangible development projects for his community.
In a statement posted on his Facebook page, the professor reflected on his political experience and noted that it is rare to see a grassroots leader who effectively leverages his access to higher authority to attract such a wide range of benefits for his people.
“In my entire brief political journey, I have never known a person who uses his direct contact with his principal—who is also his friend—to attract uncountable benefits to his community like the Potiskum Local Government Chairman Hon. Salisu Muktari,” he wrote.
Professor Almuhajir explained that Hon. Salisu Muktari has demonstrated strategic leadership by utilizing his relationship with the Governor of Yobe State, H.E. Hon. Mai Mala Buni, to bring numerous development initiatives to the Potiskum Local Government Area.
Among the projects he highlighted are the establishment of a trailer park, construction of an ultra-modern market, development of an abattoir, expansion of schools, provision of an additional general hospital, drilling of boreholes, construction of roads, establishment of healthcare centers, and the rollout of several empowerment programs aimed at improving the livelihoods of residents.
According to the professor, these projects demonstrate how effective leadership and strong political relationships can translate into real benefits for communities and added that the experience offers an important lesson to voters when choosing their leaders.
He also noted that communities often gain more development when their elected representatives maintain productive relationships with those in positions of authority, as such connections can open doors for strategic interventions and government support.
Professor Almuhajir also posed a reflective question to the public, asking whether Potiskum has previously had a chairman who has attracted such a wide range of development projects and opportunities.
His remarks have since sparked discussion among residents and political observers, many of whom see the statement as recognition of a leadership style focused on results, influence, and the practical delivery of development to the people of Potiskum Local Government Area.
