Hon. Salisu Muktari's commitment to developing health care plays a key role in ensuring the fulfilment of the commitment of Yobe State Governor H.E. Hon. Mai Mala Buni FCIA, CON, COMN to ensure a quality and affordable healthcare system across Yobe State.
The Executive Chairman of Potiskum LGA, Hon. Salisu Muktari, is committed to following up on health issues, bringing about modern changes, improving services, and providing support in the form of equipment, medicines and vehicles, as well as cash grants to modernise primary health care in the local government area.
This is in line with the improvement of the management system and the commitment to fulfil Governor Buni's commitment to ensuring that every poor and rich person has access to good and quality health care in an equitable and modern manner.
Potiskum local government PHC coordinator confirmed that the contribution and monitoring of health services that Hon. Salisu Muktari has made in the health sector, warning and urging health workers to improve their work, conduct justice, show tolerance and patience when dealing with the people of Potiskum local government area, plays a key role.
"We are receiving full attention, and we are amazed at how the health sector has been prioritised in this local government area, also Hon. Salisu Muktari is playing a key role in encouraging us through support, receiving complaints and monitoring our activities directly.
"Even last year, he paid us a surprise visit at some of our primary healthcare hospitals to see how patients are treated and monitor our activities to see first-hand and look at an area that needs special support to improve our activities and provide us with an effective system.
"Among the places he visited to ensure the quality of our work are the following: an emergency unscheduled visit to the Dogon Zare PHC Hospital with the provision of medicines, financial assistance and the promise to rebuild the collapsed female unit toilet within a short period of time, which I am now telling you he has completed the renovation and modernisation work as promised on time.
"He also paid an unscheduled visit to one of our primary healthcare hospitals in the Bolewa B ward to ensure and monitor the implementation of patient care services and follow up on areas that need support to provide direct support and address any problems that may arise in the future. He has also been regularly attending the OBR review meeting and reaffirmed his commitment to provide support to develop the sector as a preventive measure against any disease that may unexpectedly confront our community.
"Then on 30/11/2024, he attended the OBR meeting as usual, where we complained to him and submitted our written demands to improve health services and bring in a system of prevention against the spread of diseases that may arise, where he approved all our needs and provided them to us in less than a month to continue with the system we are on." Said Abdulrahman Musa
Abdulrahman also confirmed that Potiskum Local Government Area played a role that no other local government area has played in achieving Yobe State's achievement of the award as the state that has surpassed any other state in the field of primary health care services.
He confirmed that the local government area played a significant role following the efforts of the executive chairman, Hon. Salisu Muktari, to provide them with full support and supervision to carry out their activities in a modern, efficient and effective manner.
