The Executive Chairman of Potiskum Local Government Area, Hon. Salisu Muktari, has thrown his weight behind Governor Mai Mala Buni’s inclusive policies, reaffirming his dedication to promoting youth and women’s empowerment as a cornerstone for sustainable development.
Speaking at the Potiskum Local Government Secretariat, Hon. Muktari underscored the critical role youth and women play in building a prosperous society. He described them as “engines of innovation and pillars of social progress,” stressing that no society can truly advance if these groups are sidelined.
He applauded Governor Buni for deliberately creating platforms that give women and young people access to leadership opportunities, saying the governor’s bold steps have reshaped governance in Yobe State and set an example for others to follow.
To inspire hope, Hon. Muktari cited the example of Nigeria’s first female professor of veterinary medicine, an illustrious daughter of Potiskum, whose achievements stand as a testament to what women can accomplish when empowered.
He also noted that such success stories must motivate the younger generation to pursue excellence in leadership, education, and community service.
“Governor Buni has laid the foundation of inclusiveness, and it is our collective duty to build on it. My administration will continue to open doors for youth and women to participate fully in governance, politics, and community development. Together, we will ensure that progress touches every home and every citizen,” Hon. Muktari declared.
The Chairman pledged that Potiskum LGA will remain a strong partner in advancing Gov. Buni’s vision by supporting youth-led initiatives, empowering women at all levels, and promoting policies that guarantee fairness, innovation, and inclusivity.
