The Executive Chairman of Potiskum Local Government Area, Hon. Salisu Muktari, Officially Flags Off Tree Planting Campaign in Potiskum LGA and Calls for Collective Effort to Stop Desertification.
The Chairman flagged off the campaign in an effort to reaffirm the commitment of the Yobe State Governor H.E. Hon. Mai Mala Buni FCIA CON COMN to combat desertification and restore lost lands to protect the community and improve the environment.
The Chairman was represented by his Deputy, Hon. Adamu Hamza Ngojin, who spoke on his behalf.
"On behalf of our boss, Hon. Salisu Muktari, and His Excellency the Executive Governor of Yobe State, Hon. Mai Mala Buni FCIA CON COMN, I hereby launch this tree planting campaign today, 29th August, 2025, to reaffirm the commitment of the Yobe State Government to combat environmental degradation and ensure a healthy environment.
"It is good that we join forces to end illegal tree felling. It will be effective if we plant trees to improve the health of our environment. I use this opportunity to call on our leaders, law enforcement, security officers, and traditional rulers to take serious action against anyone found guilty of illegal tree felling." He said
Then, on the DPM of Potiskum Local Government Area, Alh. Adamu Dagona called on schools and other places to show their commitment to preserving the trees planted so as to benefit from the competition that His Excellency the Governor has announced for the school or institution that best takes care of the trees planted for them.
"I urge you to use all your efforts to take care of these trees in order to make our Potiskum Local Government Area proud and to be the local government that will win the competition and prizes that the esteemed governor has set for those who are most dedicated to taking care of their trees." Said Adamu Dagona
The event was attended by various community leaders, security officials, politicians, and traditional rulers.
