The executive chairman of Potiskum local government area, Hon. Salisu Muktari, flagged off the ceremony for NIPDs and assured 0% tolerance for polio in children under five years across the Potiskum local government area.
The flagging-off ceremony conducted at Potiskum Emirates Palace also included the Emir of Potiskum, HRH Alh. Umaru Bubaram Ibn Wuriwa Bauya OON, ABSWAN, CP retired, and the Potiskum LGA Chairman, who was ably represented by his vice, Hon. Adamu Hamza Ngojin. Hon. Member State House of Assembly representing Potiskum, outside Hon. Auwalu Isa Bello and Dir. PHC Board Potiskum Abdulrahman Musa, were in attendance.
The flags-off took place on Saturday, June 14th, 2025, at the Palace of His Royal Highness the Emir of Potiskum, where the Emir called on parents to do their part to show their commitment to the polio vaccination program to protect their children from contracting polio.
"I am using this opportunity to appeal to parents to pay attention to this vaccination program and avoid non-compliance.
"I also assured you that the Potiskum Emirate and its dignitaries and district heads are ready to provide all the support needed to ensure the completion of this cycle in a safe and healthy manner." He said
On his part, the executive chairman, represented by Hon. Adamu Hamza Ngojin, commended the Potiskum Emirate for highlighting the importance of the NIPDs and reaffirming its commitment to achieving 0% tolerance for polio in children under five years old.
"We commend the Potiskum Emirate for showing its satisfaction and prioritizing the activities of the NIPDs in this Local Government Area, and I am using this opportunity to inform our people and your Royal Highness that on behalf of the esteemed chairman of Potiskum Local Government Area, I assure you that Potiskum Local Government Council is ready to provide full support and contribution to the development of health services, especially the NIPDs that are striving to be part of the challenge for our state, Yobe.
"Also, I want to tell you that our chairman, Hon. Salisu Muktari, has provided cash donations, equipment for NIPD's vaccination activities, and two additional teams of twenty people each.
"This is in line with the chairman's intention to implement the resolution of the Yobe State Governor H.E. Hon. Mai Mala Buni FCIA CON COMN to ensure the quality of healthcare and prevent the emergence of health-related diseases." He said
