The Executive Chairman of Potiskum Local Government Area, Hon. Salisu Muktari, in partnership with the Yobe State Auction and Accessing Committee, auctioned off burnt vehicles of the local government area during the August 1, 2024, protests to the local businessmen.
The auction of the burnt vehicles was conducted in an orderly manner by ringing a bell and allowing interested buyers and other Business stakeholders of Potiskum Local Government to enter the auction processes and benefit directly from their properties burnt by some unscrupulous persons.
The Chairman stressed that it is not only civil servants who are entitled to such benefits from the government; Therefore, the local community and traders (Gwan-Gwan) should be given the opportunity to come in and trade in the auction that is being held to benefit our community.
As the chairman of Potiskum Local Government confirmed, the vehicles belong to the good people of Potiskum Local Government, and they are the ones who deserve to benefit from this auction; therefore, they have the full right to enjoy their property.
“Our people of Potiskum Local Government are determined, so we have agreed that it is not necessary to allow our employees alone to benefit from the auctioning process, and without any problem we allow only our businessmen of Potiskum Local Government to benefit from this government-sponsored car auction directly.
“Our goal is for our people to benefit from the wealth that has become their property; we do not allow our local government employees to buy it so that our local businessmen can also increase, and this is an opportunity for us to encourage them to look for ways to rely on themselves because this is the most effective way we can help them.” Said Hon. Salisu Muktari.
The auction was held as directed by the local government chairman, with the funds being deposited directly into the local government account for the development of all the good people of Potiskum Local Government as stipulated.
Hon. Salisu Muktari is committed to bringing about changes that will listen to everyone and improve the well-being of the good people of Potiskum Local Government area.
