Groundnut Soup Recipe

There are some people who don’t even know such a soup exists. If you had doubts, have no more because that bottle of groundnut in your kitchen is the key ingredient for this mouthwatering meal. You can also use peanut butter instead of groundnut. It is similar to the Satay Sauce in Asian but is an Edo state original.

Ingredients needed are: Groundnut, Uziza leaf (piper guineense), Onions, Salt, Seasoning, Crayfish seasoning (optional), Goat meat, Cow tripe (shaki or saki), Goat skin (Ponmo), Dried pepper, crayfish, twist scotch bonnet (atarodo, oseoyibo), dried catfish, grilled turkey gizzard (optional), grilled turkey, and 85ml palm oil.

Cooking Procedure: Pour 2000ml of water in a pot. Add saki, ponmo and goat meat first because it’s very hard. Add 1 teaspoon of salt and 2 seasoning cubes. Add dried pepper and onions, and then stir. Allow to cook for 30 minutes. After it’s properly cooked, turn off the heat and add the grilled turkey gizzard and gizzard to the pot. Add dry fish and crayfish, smoked crayfish flavor. Add palm oil, atarodo (which has been blended). Allow to cook for about 5-7 minutes. Add the pounded groundnut or peanut butter if you don’t want to ground. Allow cooking for 10 minutes then adduziza leaves (don’t add too much). Allow it to cook for 3 minutes. Serve with any solid food of your choice.
