Once upon a time in Nigeria, a young girl named Zainab was sent to live with her uncle in a distant state after her parents faced hardships. At first, she hoped for a new beginning, but her uncle's wife, Aunty Binta, was harsh and unkind. Zainab endured constant verbal abuse and neglect, which left her feeling lonely and lost.

As the days turned into months, the warmth of her childhood faded, replaced by a heavy blanket of depression. She felt invisible, her confidence shattered by Aunty Binta's relentless belittling. Zainab often sat in silence, dreaming of escape, but the walls of her new home felt like a prison.

One fateful day, Aunty Binta fell ill and eventually passed away. While the household breathed a sigh of relief, Zainab was left grappling with the scars of her past. The fear and low self-esteem instilled in her lingered like shadows, haunting her every step.
Sometimes, she wishes she’s the dead one.

How much more cruel can the gods get?

As she grew older, Zainab became defiant, her heart encased in ice. She built walls around herself, refusing to let anyone in. When the time came for marriage, she found it hard to trust. The once hopeful girl had transformed into a woman wary of love, convinced that vulnerability would only lead to pain.

Zainab's journey taught her that healing takes time and that the past does not define her future. With each step she took toward self-acceptance, she began to reclaim her life, determined to break the cycle of fear and embrace the possibility of love once more.
