Fantasies and Familiar Figures
A wish I made,
A desire I longed for,
Buried beneath the graveyard of my heart,
Memories of familiar faces haunt my search.
Days turn to months, months to years,
Till I lose track of what I seek.
Tears roll down, yet I never know why,
The figures I know become shadows in my fantasies.
Anger and pain boil, but the taste is gone,
No matter how lost I am, my feet cannot move on.
Poet’s Note
“Fantasies and Familiar Figures” reflects the quiet tension between memory and imagination—the wishes we long for, the faces we know, and the emotions that linger in the spaces between. It is a meditation on longing, loss, and the subtle ways our hearts navigate what we cannot fully grasp.
