Abhyanga (Ayurvedic Oil Massage)
1. Gather your supplies: Warm sesame oil, coconut oil, or almond oil.
2. Prepare your space: Create a calm and inviting atmosphere with soft lighting, soothing music, and incense.
3. Warm the oil: Gently heat the oil in a double boiler or by placing the container in a bowl of hot water.
4. Apply the oil: Massage the oil into your skin in long, flowing strokes, starting from your head and moving towards your feet. Pay attention to your hands, feet, and scalp.
5. Soak: Relax in a warm bath or shower to allow the oil to penetrate your skin.
Shirodhara (Ayurvedic Oil Pouring)
Set up:
1. Place a comfortable pillow on a stable surface.
2. Warm the oil: Gently heat the oil as described above.
3. Pour the oil: Slowly pour a thin stream of warm oil onto your forehead, allowing it to flow over your scalp and hair.
4. Relax: Close your eyes and focus on your breath as the oil soothes your senses.
Garshan (Dry Brushing)
1. Gather your supplies:
A natural bristle brush with a long handle.
2. Brush your skin: Gently brush your skin in long, sweeping strokes towards your heart. Start with your feet and work your way up. Avoid sensitive areas.
3. Exfoliate: The dry brushing will help to exfoliate your skin, remove dead cells, and improve circulation.
Meditation or Mindfulness
Find a comfortable position: Sit or lie down in a relaxed posture.
Focus on your breath: Pay attention to the sensation of your breath as it enters and leaves your body.
Mindful awareness: Bring your attention to the present moment without judgment.
Optional:
Aromatherapy: Use essential oils to enhance the experience.
Herbal teas: Sip on calming herbal teas like chamomile or lavender.
Journaling: Reflect on your experience and how you feel.
