The Executive Chairman of Potiskum Local Government Area, Hon. Salisu Muktari, has commended the Executive Governor of Yobe State, Hon. (Dr.) Mai Mala Buni FCIA, CON, COMN, for sustaining a deliberate effort to uplift communities that had long been left behind.

Hon. Salisu Muktari made the remarks while reviewing progress on the ongoing road, bridge, and drainage project linking T-Junction to Rugar Fulani and Nahuta, describing the intervention as a turning point for communities that previously struggled with poor access and underdevelopment.

He noted that although the project is still underway, its impact is already evident, as movement has improved and residents are beginning to reconnect with economic and social opportunities that were once out of reach.

“For years, these communities were overlooked, but today they are being deliberately integrated into the development framework of the state; that is the true essence of governance,” Hon. Salisu Muktari stated.

He also explained that upon completion, the project will provide a durable road network, a reliable bridge to strengthen connectivity, and an efficient drainage system to address flooding challenges that have long affected the area.

The chairman also highlighted the electrification of Rugar Fulani as a landmark achievement, noting that access to electricity is already enhancing livelihoods and opening up new opportunities for local businesses.

Hon. Salisu Muktari further applauded the ongoing efforts of BIMAZ Engineering Construction Company (BECC) under the supervision of the Yobe State Ministry of Works, expressing confidence in the quality and durability of the project when completed.

He added that the Potiskum intervention reflects a broader commitment by Gov. Buni to ensure that development reaches every part of the state, particularly underserved communities across all 17 local government areas.

Reaffirming his support, Hon. Muktari emphasized that Gov. Buni’s leadership continues to restore confidence in governance, expand opportunities, and lay a sustainable foundation for inclusive growth across Yobe State.
