Let's discuss the Grammys. Have you ever wondered why the people we expect to win often don't? In my opinion, the Recording Academy has a strict standard for evaluating musicians. It's not just about being popular or trendy in your country. Factors like musicality, lyrical depth, societal impact, and timelessness are considered. The quality of music videos and an artist's versatility and authenticity also play a role.
Take Angelique Kidjo, for example, who has maintained a unique sound over the years. Beyoncé is another great example. Even Nigerian musicians like Tems demonstrate exceptional musicianship, lyrical depth, and musicality.
If someone has been working hard to win a Grammy but hasn't succeeded yet, perhaps they need to reassess their approach. This post isn't directed at anyone specifically, just a general observation and food for thought.
