A SPLIT IN THEIR RANKS
John 9:16 (MSG):
Some of the Pharisees said, “Obviously, this man can’t be from God. He doesn’t keep the Sabbath.” Others countered, “How can a bad man do miraculous, God-revealing things like this?” There was a split in their ranks.
This scenario is a very typical one in modern Christian culture.
This story is about a man whom Jesus healed of blindness on a sabbath day. The Jews were angry and distraught not because of the miracle but because of the time it was done. It was done on a “holy day!” According to the then Jewish laws, nothing should be done on a day like that. So, they said “If the man is from God like he so claimed, he should not be violating the Sabbath.”
Recently, a very melodious Christian song titled No Turning Back II by Gaise Baba and Lawrence Oyor trened, amidst the rave and reviews, some pastors and religious people have come for both the song and the musicians. They said that the people who sang the song are not Christians — for if they were Christians, they shouldn’t be dyeing their hair or wearing head bands. These group of people are simply bringing a split in our ranks.
The song is a blessing. The vessels used in singing it are blessings. But the fault finders have labelled them godless because they don’t tick their boxes.
Gaise Baba and Lawrence Oyor do not tick the boxes of the kind of people that should be used of God. This mindset is dangerous. This mindset is godless. This mindset is anti-Christ. Jesus said in John 8:15 “...I judge no man”. If we claim to be his pastors, or prophets and priests, why do we judge people and harshly too?
