Industry Placates Poverty
Industry placates poverty
Work conscientiously my friend
By diligence comes promotion
When all anchorage is lost
Slothfulness may be implied
When there is no one to lean on
Intensify assiduous efforts
Your mother’s wealth may be outlandish
And your father’s farm fat and flourishing
Your dependence on them
Would leave you in despair
Wealth amassed wrongly
May not last a time
Riches sweated for
Outlast generations
Fellows are like the arm
Likewise are kith and kin
Showering you love today
Celebrating your affluence
Tomorrow they adore your influence
Perhaps you become highly-placed
You’ll receive adulation from people
But when the tides change
They scoff at you
Education elevates
Ensure you get learned
When others make
Mockery of it
Refuse to partake of their folly
The untutored child is bound to suffer
The truant is on a path of anguish
Make today count
Work hard while it is day
