#Poetry:

The Country Died

The treacherous crescendo
Of 1966
Sapped life out of the country
And pandemonium has since then
The oil that her descendants rub
Of the treasures left behind

Her conception of 1884
To her birth into serfdom in 1900
And her maturity in 1960
Then her self actualisation
From 1963 up to her strangulation in 1966
Expunged our nationalism
And our troubles begun over inheritance!

Flora's christening of the country of 1879
Robbed her of her original identity
And George Goldie's creation of the country
Made it a venture for the aliens
The worst,Otto Von Bismack principle of Fredrick Lugard
Prophesied our loggerhead!
Inheritance! Inheritance!!

The country died
Her descendants are loggerheading
The left behind treasures belong to all
Just like the time past
But selflessly nationalistic
The then children that witnessed
Her suffering before birth
But now avarice is the game
Over inheritance!

We are fighting over inheritance
And our selfishness deepens
With arrant wickedness
A serious enigma, quaffing our wellbeing
Into a qaugmire of hardship
And our feet are sunk in its bog of rancour.

Now we can all see the doom
We are only struggling to pull out But now a tango bout
Like a sunk tire rolling to increase the depth of its sinking
Our dead country is angry
Our misanthropic nature
Is the keg we drink of her anger.

The pains continue on the rise
Our condition calls for selflessness
And reason in the fold of correction
We are all one and our country
Is always ours
Then for good our state becomes
To rename our time with her name again.
