Daytona Beach has been blowing up with new spots all over town, and I’ve been hitting as many as I can since I live off of Nova Road near the racetrack. It’s not just the big chains we’re used to - we’re finally getting some solid local flavor.

If you haven’t been yet, check out **The District** on Beach Street, right behind the old News-Journal building. It opened about three months ago in that renovated warehouse space by the riverfront. They’re doing wood-fired pizzas and craft beer, but the real standout is their smoked brisket tacos with mango salsa. It’s a casual vibe with picnic tables outside and live music on weekends. Parking’s a pain but worth it.

Over in the **Holly Hill** area, near the corner of Ridgewood and LPGA, **Saffron Kitchen** just soft-opened last month. It’s a family-run Indian fusion place that took over the old diner spot next to the Publix. I tried their lamb korma and garlic naan - it’s all made fresh, and the owner came out to chat and asked how the heat level was. They’re still figuring out the lunch rush hours, but dinner service runs strong.

For seafood, **Seaside Catch** on A1A near Silver Beach Avenue replaced the old crab shack that closed during the pandemic. It’s nothing fancy, just no-frills fried shrimp baskets and grilled fish sandwiches, but the view of the ocean from the picnic tables out back is unbeatable. They serve key lime pie from that little bakery on International Speedway Boulevard, which is a nice touch.

Also, keep an eye on the corner of Mason Avenue and Nova Road. There’s a sign going up for **Rise & Grind**, a breakfast and coffee spot from the same people who do the food truck near the pier. I heard they’re aiming to open by late spring.

Honestly, it feels like Daytona Beach is finally getting more than just beachfront tourist traps. We’ve got legit places to eat now.
