They all had a bright future
One that they had nurtured
For a long time, they had it coming
On such a day, the cloud was turning
They had such beautiful dreams to be achieved
A dream, they had faith with so much belief
They wanted to break from the shackles of slavery
They came out en mass with so much bravery
To right for their fatherland, their togetherness was unwavering

Their patriotic act so strong like never before
Their differences set aside to fight for a grater future
In the blink of an eye, they scattered
The air so blurry, you could see a thing, hardly
Their skins so tingly, they could all feel the sting
The very ones who were supposed to protect and defend
Who oppressed and attacked

Nigeria my fatherland
The nation's call we obeyed
We were called to serve our father land
But we've lost our love strength and faith
Although, bound by our heels past
Our youths no longer seek the truth
From lofty heights we crumbled
A nation where chaos and injustice is the order of the day

On that day, history was made
On that day, we lost our voice
On that day, we realized we had no choice
On that day, parents lost their children
A wife lost a husband,
A family lost a breadwinner
A nation lost her hero's
The youths lost their voice
