DISTANCE

The painful thoughts
The lingering feelings
The sorrowful yearnings
These are inevitable in your absence

The gnashing of teeth
The groans
The sighs and moans of emptiness
And the hopeful thoughts that this isn't real

But what oh what
Shall I feel from this painful distancing of ours ?
My bright sunny days
My happy genuine smiles, are all histories.

Fate is cruel
Hopelessness suddenly feels right
But the emptiness?
Is an undefeatable feat.
