"When I was asked to give up"
When asked to give up, I laughed loud
For in that moment I saw my toil,
Efforts that I had made with heart unbowed,
Life struggles that I had learned not to spoil.
I imagined all the efforts I had made,
The sleepless nights, the tears that I had shed
with every step, uncertainties would fade
I imagined all the struggles that brought me here
The million miles have walked passed,
the different phase of life I've conquered
I was amongst the million athletes in my
mother's belly running a survival race
A race that was eventually me, I mean
I survived, I won, I believe I would win
When asked to give up, I questioned If joy waited at the end
If dreams I cherished had lost all their power
But I've learned to put off doubt
To face a each trial with brilliance
I see each obstacles as a test of resilience
As strength within me grew, like roots widespread
I pressed forward, against stormy weather
I pushed forward with heart and might
And through the darkest tunnel, I found my way
For deep within my soul, there burns a light
That guides me through the shadows, come what may
So when I was asked to give up, I laughed out loud
For I knew, bravery is not in any way synonymous
to cowardice.
