EBA AND EGUSI
I have grown like a soldier.
I can never forget you as I am older.
You have always been my local sustenance,
my favourite local maintenance.
Eba, I had to survey your staple with my foremost hand
Strangely every Yoruba and other southwestern will agree to the reality
and to the workmanship.
Whereas Egusi
is so distinctive to behold,
the nostalgic feeling of African warmth swells across my bowl as I consume with great fervour and integrity.
The kpomo played its role perfectly
Even stockfish apprehended the savoury to be joined with ugwu and scent leaf.
Will I ever forget my ancestry?
Will I ever forget the culture when I go overseas?
No, I will not.
However far I may be.
