Title:My Oha Adventure
Poet: Margaret Paul
I guffed at first sight
I grimaced
On realizing it was it
For that hour,
Not until I braced up
Made a mold
Dipped it in
Grudgingly shoved into my mouth
Suddenly,
The base of my tongue
Stroke a cord
Could this be real?
Then came the exploration...
The stockfish cum chevon,
Smoked catfish
Plus crayfish assorted,
The sweet scent of uziza and ogiri
That stupendous taste,
Betrayed the foodie inside
Opening and closing
My mandibles
Like an idiopathic patient,
I had dawned the whole meal.
My mesmerization
Mesmerized my onlookers!
Embarrassment whispered to me
I snubbed unperturbed.
My tommy sang joyfully
The praise
Of this superlicious delicacy,
The tantalizing Oha soup,
My favorite for life.
