I've been asked questions related to cutting
I've been asked questions related to cutting down the cost of governance, and the complaints by Nigerians concerning a trending motorcade video. I wasn't opportune to see the video, but I will repeat what I said.
Earlier today, I hosted the Anambra Muslim Community at my residence in Onitsha, to celebrate the Eid al Adha. In also presented cheques to the leaders of Onitsha and Awka Muslim Communities, in fulfilment if my earlier promise of helping to renovate their respective mosques. The visit was a propitious moment to remind them, and indeed all Nigerians, that we can conquer the myriads of challenges facing us as a nation, if we unite as a people, and live above our tribal, religious and political...
Today, we mark the Micro, Small and Medium Sized Enterprises Day - during which we must remind ourselves the priceless roles MSMEs play in catalysing economic growth and development in the country. Studies show that Nigeria is home to about 40 million MSMEs, comprising 90% of all businesses in Nigeria. 70% of these businesses are youth-owned. MSMEs contribute over 50% to the country’s gross domestic product (GDP), with 98.8% of them in the micro cadre. They account for nearly 90% of the jobs i...
I was in Abia State for the Thanksgiving Service of my dear friend and brother, the Governor of Abia State, Dr Alex Otti. I used the opportunity to appeal to Gov. Otti to focus on delivering good governance to the people of Abia State, especially the less privileged. The less privileged people in Nigeria have been subjected to many untold hardships and have suffered enough. Programs and policies focusing on health, education and pulling people out of poverty should be highly prioritised. In the ...
As usual, today I attended the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal at the Court of Appeal in Abuja. Today's proceedings went well and at the end, the case was adjourned until Monday the 5th of June, 2023. I'm continually gratified by the efforts of our legal team. Straight from the court's sitting, I attended the burial of my late dear friend, Mr Emeka Ofamata at Nnewi, Anambra State. I wish the Ofamata Family the strength and fortitude to bear the painful loss, and pray that the Almighty Go...
I congratulate the Nigerian students from Queen of the Rosary College, Onitsha, who clinched second place in the just concluded World Affairs Challenge, which is an international competition for high school students, aimed at developing and implementing their own S.M.A.R.T. solutions for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The Nigerian students reportedly carried out innovation in Queens’ Lyfe bags – a 100 per cent plantable biodegradable bag made from rice straws, banana fibre...
For all Nigerians, this is a time for deep reflection. It is also a time to re-examine our assumptions, even as we reaffirm our hopes. Let us calmly review our aspirations, in order to recalibrate our expectations and pin down the causes of our missed opportunities and disappointments. We stand at that critical moment in time when, as a people, we must collectively come to grips with the reality of our injured destiny as well as the reasons for that injury. It is for us to reassess our plight as...
