Earlier today, I had the pleasure of inaugurating the National Economic Council (NEC) at the Presidential Villa. The important body, led by the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, and with membership of all State Governors among others, has the mandate to support and deepen the administration's efforts to cause rapid and inclusive economic growth through well-reasoned policies and measures.
10 years ago, today, my darling mother, Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji passed away. On this day, I remember her love, grit, devotion and generosity. I will always cherish the time we had together and the values of hard work, forthrightness and perseverance she instilled in me. May Allah continue to rest her beautiful soul.
It was an honour to inspect the immaculate Presidential Guard of Honour mounted by brave men and women of our Armed Forces on this special day. As we celebrate Democracy Day, let us remember and honour all the heroes who championed our country’s freedom from tyranny and renew our collective commitment to keep the light of liberty burning in our land.
I enjoyed my engagement, this morning, with a gathering of traditional rulers from across the country. In the course of our dialogue, I tasked them with supporting the administration’s efforts to ensure lasting peace and unity by promoting responsible behaviour and patriotism. I also gave assurance of government’s support as they continue in their role as powerful custodians of our unique cultural values.
It was a pleasure to play host to Exxon Mobil Executives, Mr Liam Mallon and Mrs Adesua Dozie, at the State House earlier today. The meeting marks the continuation of this administration’s efforts to secure the collaboration of critical players in the oil sector towards ensuring stability, transparency and fair competition in the sector.
I was delighted, this morning, to receive in audience Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State @CalebMutfwang and later, Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom. I look forward to a cordial and constructive relationship with all 36 Governors as we work to build a safe, secure and prosperous Nigeria for the benefit of all Nigerians.
At a meeting yesterday with representatives of major oil marketers' associations, in the course of the discussions, I emphasized my administration’s total commitment to a competitive, stable and transparent oil market and challenged the marketers to work with the government to ensure regular supply and convenient access to fuel products across the country at the lowest possible price.
Earlier today at the State House, I had the honor of meeting with the governors of all the states of our country, led by the Chairman of the Nigerian Governor’s Forum (NGF), Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State. At the meeting, I urged unity and cooperation amongst the States and the Federal Government. It is my belief that to conquer our nation's long-standing challenges such as poverty and underdevelopment, we must collaborate as occupants of one great house for the progress and...
It was with great pleasure that I, today, administered the Oath of Office and Allegiance to Senator George Akume to mark his official assumption of office as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. As a distinguished public servant who has demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities and a deep understanding of the workings of government, I have no doubt that Senator Akume’s service in the new position will be to the benefit of our nation.
On a tour of the new Office of National Security Adviser and the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) in Abuja. I'm proud of the commitment of experienced officers from many government Ministries, Departments and Agencies that make up the NCTC. The new facilities and technologies now at their disposal gives me great pride in the greatness of Nigeria.
