You've hit on the right place. Maun is definitely the jumping-off point for the Delta, but there's a big difference between just landing there and actually getting into the bush efficiently. Most people don't realize that while Maun International Airport handles the big commercial flights from Johannesburg and Gaborone, the real magic happens at the smaller airstrips scattered around the airport property. If your camp is in the Delta, you'll almost certainly be hopping on a tiny Cessna or a bush plane from the separate "Maun Airport" (the one with the gravel and the thatched roof terminal). Don't be surprised if your pilot is also your baggage handler and spots elephants from the cockpit.
One practical tip that saved me hassle: when you arrive, don't rush. The queue for immigration can be slow, and there's a small but decent duty free shop after baggage claim where you can pick up cold drinks for the road. Also, your lodge or safari company should have a representative waiting just outside arrivals with a sign. They'll take you to their office or directly to the charter terminal. If you have a layover, there's a small coffee shop in the departure lounge, but bring a book because the Wi-Fi is spotty.
For the photo, a classic shot of the airport's small terminal with the dusty runway and a safari vehicle waiting captures the vibe perfectly.
