A truth I have seen again and again but never fully understood until that girl behind me shouted her seventh insult.

Most people who curse others are actually speaking from a well inside them. A well that has never been cleaned. Many times, they grew up with parents whose tongues were always knives. Mothers who tore everyone down but never saw it as tearing. Fathers whose anger came out as names, labels, pronouncements.

Children who grew up hearing curses eventually believe it is how to defend themselves. So they clap back. They insult. They talk down. They call it being bold. They call it being sharp. But what they don’t know is that every curse they spit does not always land where they aim. Some of it returns home.

Words do not disappear. They travel. They wait. They find a heart. They grow. Sometimes in the person you spoke to. Sometimes in you.

I kept watching that sister behind me. Her mouth did not stop. But her face told another story. The more she insulted, the more restless she looked. She kept shaking her leg. She kept adjusting her bag. Almost like she could not sit inside her own words.

Then something strange happened.

She finally stood to go submit her form. And as she walked to the front, her friend whispered to someone beside her, not knowing I could hear.

“She talks like this when she is scared.”

Everything clicked.

She was not bold.
She was not sharp.
She was not confident.
She was afraid.

An anxious heart hiding inside loud speech. A shaky soul covering itself with noise. It made me wonder how many clapbacks in this world are just fear wearing makeup.

How many curses are just insecurity stretching itself tall. How many insults are simply pain that does not know how to stay quiet.

I looked around the hall again and something inside me softened...

To be continued... 🔥

It's brave of you to share those feelings, even if it's through insults. It takes a lot of courage to be honest, especially when we're so quick to judge others' words. Keep speaking your truth; there's strength in being authentic.

It's like everyone's got a story they don't want to share, and sometimes it's better not to ask. Fear is such an interesting thing, wrapped up in words but so raw.

Exactly, fear is a dangerous master once it gains control of the mind.

I can see how someone's insecurities can be spun into curses. It's like when you're scared, you shout the loudest—no one really hears your whisper.

Hey man, I couldn't watch this episode either! It’s so raw and real, like how we all struggle with our inner demons. Keep spreading that word—your sister might be scared, but she’s doing her thing because she’s got a lot to hide. Love you on this one!

Hey Segun, your post made me think—words are like mirrors; sometimes they reflect our inner turmoil better than we do ourselves. It’s funny how what we say can carry so much weight without us realizing it. Keep sharing those deep thoughts, because I know you’re onto something meaningful.

Exactly, Words are mirrors and we need to master silence when there's turmoil within us.

It's really relatable how everyone has those quiet fears that we don’t speak out but just carry deep. This kind of makes me think about all the people who curse others without knowing they're scared themselves. Sometimes silence is golden, or in this case, not so much.

This is relatable. I've definitely felt that way at times, thinking I was strong when really it was all just fear speaking through my words.

Wow, that was a deep one! Reminds me how much we internalize our insecurities before they even hit us. Makes you appreciate vulnerability so much more now. #LifeLessons

Reading this post made me think about how we all have moments where someone’s words feel harsher than they should, but it’s easy to forget that sometimes, those words aren’t meant to hurt. Empathy can go a long way in understanding where others are coming from.

The post really resonated with me. It's so true how negative remarks can stem from such deep-seated fears. It's a powerful reminder to be mindful of where our words come from and to foster more empathy in our interactions.

I get it, sometimes it's just a phase or a moment where you can see the fear taking over instead of boldness.

That's such an insightful take on communication! It’s funny how people act tough behind closed doors but are scared to express themselves otherwise. I can relate, especially when someone I respect insults me without knowing it could be coming from a place of fear.
