Potiskum LGA is a hub for trade in Yobe State and a local government that excels in manufacturing, especially in the manufacturing of agricultural products and modern livestock farming machines. The local government is all set to showcase its latest handmade machines at the 46th, Kaduna International Trade Fair to be held in Kaduna State.
The preparations are well underway as states from different countries continue to showcase their products, including mineral resources, manufactured goods, traditional trade, and agricultural products that are abundant in the regions.
Potiskum Local Government Area Council also exhibited locally fabricated agricultural machines including: Groundnut oil extraction machine, Electric stove, Granding Machine and Mini-thresher all of which were invented by the local government to facilitate farming activities and promote agribusiness for economic growth across Yobe, Nigeria and Africa as a whole.
The Potiskum Local Government Area Council will use this event to sensitise stakeholders on the impact of agriculture in the state to affirm the commitment of the government of H.E. Hon. Mai Mala Buni CON, COMN, to transform agriculture from a profession to a profitable and prosperous business to create multiple sources of self-reliance for the youth and the good people of Yobe State.
The local government also presented various varieties of seeds that they can produce in the local government area, which include: Sorghum-Sorg-45 (Kwakwai), Sorghum off-white ('yar bogocho), Sorghum (Dan lamfade), Sorghum Yellow (Kaura), Cowpea white variety (Mai Diya Diya), Brown Cowpea (Jan Wake), Cowpea Sampea-10 (Kanchan-Kanchan), Cowpea Sampea-10 (Dan Malam), Honey Beans, and lots more.
The Potiskum local government area, under the leadership of the executive chairman, Hon. Salisu Muktari, will be showcasing these products to ensure that Yobe State is a state with a great impact in the agricultural sector across Nigeria.
