The executive governor of Yobe State, His Excellency Hon. Mai Mala Buni, CON, COMN, has yesterday commissioned the Buni Gari Water Treatment Plant, the Water Quality Lab, and 2 new projects in the Damaturu and Buni Yadi area of the Gujba local government area.
The Buni Gari Dam will have a capacity of 243 million litres with the treatment plant of 300,000 litres daily capacity. It will be powered by a generator and solar system.
The construction of this dam will reduce and alleviate the water crisis that the people of Buni Gari have been facing for a long time and will provide them with clean and safe water for drinking and for their daily needs.
The project launched by the executive governor, which includes the establishment of a flood and erosion control unit in Buni Yadi and Damaturu towns, will greatly help in preventing floods and soil erosion in these areas.
Its establishment will also help in the development of agricultural and business activities because the water collected by this unit will be used to effectively develop dry farming in these areas, which will help greatly in economic development and create jobs for thousands of youths and good people of these areas.
The governor also launched the distribution of agricultural products, including 500 bags of NPK fertiliser, 85 sets of water-fertilising equipment, 115 solar irrigation pumps, and 1,000 bags of modern sprayers and pesticides to farmers across the state.
This distribution of agricultural products will greatly help in the development of agricultural activities after the governor recently empowers state's farmers with major agricultural products and distributed them to thousands of farmers across the state.
The governor has excelled in creating systems that will directly benefit the people of the state and improve economic activities across the state as a whole.
