


Yobe EXCO Unlocks N59.8bn for High-Impact Projects, Driving Gov. Buni’s People-Centred Development Agenda

Yobe State has reinforced its commitment to inclusive growth and improved service delivery, as the State Executive Council (EXCO) ratified projects and expenditures totaling N59.8 billion at its meeting in Damaturu.
The council session, chaired on behalf of Governor Mai Mala Buni by Deputy Governor Hon. Idi Barde Gubana, focused on advancing strategic investments across infrastructure, commerce, energy, healthcare, and sports key sectors central to the administration’s development blueprint.
A major share of the approvals over N34.1 billion was dedicated to road construction, including the 59km Kaliyari–Bayamari road and the 53km Bayamari–Gaidam road, these projects are expected to enhance connectivity, stimulate rural economies, and ease the movement of goods and people.
In the commerce sector, the council ratified over N8.5 billion for modern market projects in Jajimaji, Machina, and Buni-Yadi, aimed at boosting trade, supporting local businesses, and creating structured environments for economic activities.
The transport and energy sector received N5.3 billion for key interventions, including the installation of 2,200 solar-powered streetlights across 11 local government headquarters, expansion of electricity infrastructure, and procurement of power generators to support critical public facilities.
Healthcare delivery remains a cornerstone of the administration’s agenda, with over N5.5 billion approved for the construction of a new Ministry of Health and Human Services complex, rehabilitation of general hospitals, and provision of modern medical equipment to enhance healthcare services across the state.
Additionally, N3.3 billion was allocated for the ongoing reconstruction and upgrade of the 27 August Stadium in Damaturu, reflecting sustained investment in youth development and sports infrastructure.
The scale and distribution of the approvals reflect a deliberate strategy to align infrastructure expansion with economic empowerment and social welfare.
The EXCO decisions underscore the administration’s resolve to convert policy into measurable outcomes, reinforcing a governance approach that prioritizes sustainability, economic resilience, and improved living standards for the people of Yobe State.
