Yobe State has once again earned national recognition for its growing commitment to transparency and accountable governance, as it ranks among the few states in Nigeria publishing accessible local government budget documents for 2026.

According to recent data shared by StatiSense, only 10 out of Nigeria’s 36 states currently make their Local Government Area (LGA) budget records publicly available online. Notably, Yobe stands proudly on this list, reinforcing its reputation as one of the states embracing openness in public financial management.

Under the leadership of Gov. Buni, Yobe State has consistently prioritized transparency as a cornerstone of governance. By ensuring that financial records at the grassroots level are accessible to citizens, the administration is empowering communities with the information needed to track government spending and hold institutions accountable.

This milestone is particularly significant given that financial records for local governments remain inaccessible online in 26 states across the country; in contrast, Yobe’s proactive disclosure reflects a deliberate policy direction aimed at strengthening public trust and promoting responsible governance.

The availability of LGA budget documents not only enhances citizen participation but also aligns with global best practices in fiscal transparency. For Yobe, this achievement signals a broader reform agenda focused on institutional integrity, prudent resource management, and inclusive development.

The Buni administration’s transparency drive continues to set a positive example, demonstrating that open governance at all levels—especially at the grassroots—remains key to sustainable progress and democratic accountability.

As Nigeria grapples with calls for greater fiscal openness, Yobe State’s inclusion among the top performers stands as a testament to purposeful leadership and a clear commitment to doing governance differently.
