Yobe Commerce Commissioner Inspects Potiskum Pavilion, Applauds Innovation and Resource Display at Abuja Trade Fair

The Yobe State Commissioner for Commerce, Industry, and Tourism, Alhaji Kaigama Umar, has inspected the Potiskum LGA's pavilion at the ongoing International Trade Fair in Abuja, where he commended the LGA for its outstanding efforts in showcasing natural resources and locally fabricated machines.
Speaking during the inspection, the commissioner praised the Potiskum delegation for presenting the area’s mineral resources and innovative machines in a manner that highlighted both economic potential and local ingenuity.
He also noted that the display was not only a source of pride for Potiskum but also an important contribution to Yobe State’s image on a national platform.
The pavilion attracted attention with its array of mineral samples, including limestone, gypsum, and kaolin, which are widely available in Potiskum and surrounding areas. These natural resources, according to the Commissioner, hold significant potential for industrial development and investment.
In addition, the exhibition featured locally designed agricultural implements and agro-processing machines fabricated by artisans in Potiskum; such innovations, he explained, are critical for boosting productivity, supporting farmers, and creating employment opportunities for young people.
Alhaji Kaigama Umar Yusuf emphasized that Potiskum’s participation reflects Governor Mai Mala Buni’s vision of diversifying Yobe’s economy through trade, agriculture, and industrial growth.
He added that bringing these innovations to an international platform such as the Abuja Trade Fair helps open doors for investment, partnerships, and wider recognition.
The Commissioner assured Potiskum of the state government’s continuous support to expand on its achievements while encouraging other LGAs in Yobe to emulate this initiative.
With its rich natural endowments and commitment to innovation, Potiskum’s strong showing at the Abuja International Trade Fair has reinforced its position as a rising hub of commerce, agriculture, and local industry in Yobe State.
