Title: The Wise Tortoise and the Greedy Monkey
Story
In the heart of the animal kingdom, all the animals gather under the giant baobab tree to hear the news. The lion, king of the forest, has just declared a grand feast for everyone!
As the feast begins, animals laugh, dance, and share delicious fruits and honey. But one animal, the monkey, only wants the best fruits for himself. He leaps and grabs the ripest mangoes, hiding them under a big leaf, far from the others.
The wise old tortoise watches him quietly. “Why are you hiding those fruits, monkey?” Tortoise asks with a knowing smile.
Monkey snickers, “Because I am smart, Tortoise! When everyone else is hungry, I’ll have all the sweet mangoes to myself.”
Tortoise chuckles and says, “Oh, but I have a plan to get even tastier fruits, if you want to join me.”
Monkey’s eyes widen. “Tastier than these?” he asks, already licking his lips.
Tortoise nods slowly. “Yes, but you must follow me. It’s a secret.”
Curious and greedy, Monkey agrees. Tortoise leads him through the jungle, to a wide, muddy pond. Monkey looks around, puzzled. “Where are the fruits?” he asks.
“Right here!” Tortoise replies, pointing to the muddy water. “But you have to jump in and reach for them.”
Monkey frowns but dives into the mud, searching for the “hidden” fruits. Soon, he’s covered in mud from head to toe. The other animals wander over, laughing at the sight. Realizing he’s been tricked, Monkey pulls himself out, embarrassed and fruitless.
Tortoise smiles gently and says, “Remember, Monkey, greed can make you look foolish.”
From that day on, the animals tell the story of the greedy monkey and the wise tortoise, learning to share and laugh together.
