"WHO ARE THEY?"

"Who Are They?"
“Who are they?” they ask from AC halls,
While we’re roasting like yam beside pothole walls.
They press remotes, we press our chest,
Begging NEPA to give us rest.
"Who are they?" they grin in coats,
As we queue for hours to cast our votes.
They promise heaven with mango lips,
Then fly abroad on hardship trips.
They call us lazy, what a joke!
We hustle dreams through tear gas smoke.
They say we’re jobless, not creative
But who made fraud a national native?
“Who are they?” they ask on air,
While we fetch fuel from God-knows-where.
Their children school in golden towers,
Ours recite alphabets under rain showers.
They sip champagne, we sip pure lies,
They raise salaries while rice price flies.
They post on X, we shout on Threads,
They ban protests but not their beds.
"Who are they?"we, the cursed,
Who paid for roads that still reversed.
We build their walls, they block our gates,
Then say our suffering must be fate.
And yet they laugh with powdered face,
Wiping greed with handkerchiefs of grace.
We are the joke they never told
Because in silence, we’re bought and sold.
So next time they ask, “Who are they?”
Tell them: We are the thunder you mocked as breeze
The last laugh hiding behind your ease.
