The heart doesn't lie.
My heart doesn't lie.
It shakes like an open fire from a volcano
when a lie is told,
but as calm as the night breeze on the seaside
when the truth is spoken.
My heart is clear like the trickling waters of the brook.
My heart beats, and it whispers, "A lie has been told,"
and I speak it out with no shame.
My heart rejoices when the truth is uttered,
and it flows from my mouth
like the melodies of the chirping birds,
and my face lights up like the rising sun in the east.
But there is a soul-sinking truth
my heart struggles to know,
in a world filled with an abundance of lies,
who will listen to the truth?
So now I shut it out
and lie through my teeth,
with a face frozen, like the pale light
of a distant winter's moon.
